Honda Plant in Indiana Creates 1,000 New Jobs

Within the past year, Honda faced a major challenge that was largely out of its control. After the Tsunami hit Japan in March, the exportation of Honda parts slowed tremendously and plants based in North America had to slow down production as well. But the automaker quickly got back on its feet and worked hard to restore productivity level to normal. Now, Honda Manufacturing of Indiana, LLC (HMIN) has decided to add a whole new production shift to its plant in Greensburg. With the addition will come a healthy crop of 1,000 new jobs.

Bringing the HMIN plant to its full potential of 200,000-units, this Indiana expansion is what HMIN President Jun Nishimoto calls "an important step forward in the realization of our dream."1 Production of the Honda Civic sedan and Civic Natural Gas is another significant achievement for the company. In fact, J.D. Power and Associates awarded HMIN a platinum title for vehicle quality based on the global firm's 2011 Initial Quality Survey.

"Our associates have made this one of the highest quality plants in the world, and now we have the opportunity to share their commitment to excellence with even more Honda customers. It's a great day for Honda in Indiana," Nishimoto recently stated.

Apart from creating more jobs and delivering more new Honda models to dealerships like [Dealer], the recent HMIN expansion also helps bolster related business groups. For example, an increase in vehicle production means a higher demand for parts and engines. The Indiana Honda sector grabs its materials from 225 companies in the U.S. and Canada meaning that financial income is heightened in locations from Michigan to Kentucky to Ohio and beyond.
