The hybrids land in three tiers. Front-wheel-drive Sport Hybrid and Sport-L Hybrid carry an EPA-estimated 43 city, 36 highway and 40 combined. With all-wheel drive, which is optional on the Sport Hybrid and Sport-L Hybrid and standard on the Sport Touring Hybrid, the ratings become 40 city, 34 highway and 37 combined. The TrailSport Hybrid pairs its all-terrain tires with an EPA-estimated 38 city, 33 highway and 35 combined.

All seven trims share a 14.0-gallon fuel tank, so the hybrid's efficiency turns directly into more miles between fill-ups. Using those EPA-estimated combined ratings, a front-wheel-drive gas CR-V calculates out to 420 miles per tank, and a front-wheel-drive hybrid to 560 miles.

These are calculated figures, so your own mileage will reflect air conditioning, traffic and how much stop-and-go you do. That last point favors the hybrid in Brevard County, since its electric motor does the most work at low speeds, which is exactly where a run down US-1 puts you.
